For aerobatic pilot Julie Clark and Juice Plus+, the sky’s the limit
Julie Clark is one of the most celebrated female pilots in aviation history. Inspired by her father, a commercial pilot for Pacific Airlines in the 1960s, Julie took flying lessons while at U.C.-Santa Barbara. She became the first (and only) woman to ever fly for Golden West Airlines in 1976; and in 1977 was hired by Hughes Air West, where she became one of the very first women to fly for a major airline.
Since then, Julie has also become one of the most prolific performers on the North American air show circuit. Known for her graceful aerobatic sequences and her lovingly restored T-34 Mentor aircraft, she has flown an average of 20 shows per year for more than 33 years, making her one of the busiest and most recognized air show performers in the world. In 2011, Julie was inducted into the International Council of Air Shows Foundation Hall of Fame and received the prestigious Art Scholl Memorial Showmanship Award.
A long-time customer of Juice Plus+, Julie attributes a strong nutrition backbone as one of the main reasons that she is able to continue living out her dreams and doing what she loves.
“Having a healthy lifestyle is incredibly important to me,” Julie tells us. “I maintain my health by eating well, exercising regularly, and ‘bridging the nutritional gap’ with Juice Plus+.”
If you’re anywhere near Evansville, Indiana this Fourth of July weekend, look up! You just might see something magical and wildly patriotic going on in the skies above you. Cities across America will have fireworks displays as soon as it’s dark, but this extravaganza will be taking place in broad daylight: the annual Freedom Festival air show.
It’s a tradition that is as highly guarded as Little League and apple pie. Why, the Smithsonian’s Air and Space Museum that preserves the history of our passion for flight provides a directory of air shows across these United States, where everyone—even those who might not have the price of admission—can gaze heavenward and dream.
And that directory is where I followed the links and searched for “Julie Clark aeronautic pilot.” I got goose bumps when I saw her picture above and read this:
Her unique and patriotic presentation, "Serenade in Red, White and Blue," is breathtakingly choreographed to Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA" or "God Bless You Canada." To enhance her routine, multi-colored wing-tip smoke trails her every maneuver and she concludes her performance with crowd-pleasing, dazzling fireworks.
Doesn’t that just sound like the Fourth of July in spades?
