How the Shannon Miller 5K Inspires Healthy Living

Juice Plus+ always works to inspire healthy living around the world, and sometimes, Shannon Miller, an Olympic legend and an ovarian cancer survivor, helps us spread our mission!

Miller, an avid Juice Plus+ user for years, believes in focusing on simple goals to reach a healthy lifestyle through small, easy-to-implement changes.

“Juice Plus+ was part of my [Olympic] training regimen and it continues to be a critical part of my health regimen,” Miller said. “I am so proud to partner with Juice Plus+ as they continue to make a true difference in the health and wellness of my whole family.”

She supports initiatives and activities that focus on health for everyone -- like the Shannon Miller Foundation 5K and Children’s Fun Run, sponsored by Juice Plus+.

On Saturday, May 13, almost a thousand people of all ages lined up at the race’s starting line. The Shannon Miller Foundation 5K and Children’s Fun Run participants ran for children’s health awareness and raised funds that were given to Jacksonville’s children’s health and wellness programs.

Funds raised through the Shannon Miller Foundation 5K and Children’s Fun Run support an in-school running program for over 8,000 Jacksonville, Florida children ages 5-14.

The program is focused on making a positive difference in children’s lives by incorporating leadership and goal setting skills along with physical activity.

“With two small children of my own, I know how important it is to instill a love of physical fitness from an early age,” Shannon Miller said. “We want children to be excited about skipping, jumping, walking and running! These children feel a sense of accomplishment when they reach their goals and earn rewards.”

If you want to give back to your community and weren’t able to make it to the race, see some other ways you can inspire healthy living here.
