BENEFITS OF TURMERIC AND 5 EASY WAYS TO CONSUME IT ON THE DAILY

Benefits of Turmeric & 5 Easy Ways to Consume it Daily

file

Hailed as a wonder root in the world of natural medicine, turmeric is also the spice known for turning Indian curries that gorgeous glow-ey yellow (ok, as well as your clothes and fingertips), and is a definite must add to your shopping list for its fab health benefits.

WHAT IS TURMERIC?

Turmeric is a spice that comes from the root of a plant called Curcuma longa, and has a super-power that lies in its active ingredient: curcumin.

Not surprisingly, curcuminoids comprise only a small part of turmeric, so to make the most of this wonder root you want to be aiming for the equivalent of about 1-2cm of the fresh root (peel using gloves if you don’t want stained fingers) per day, or consume 1-2 teaspoons of powered organic turmeric per day, as outlined in the 5 tips below.

You also want to know that adding a pinch of black pepper takes turmeric’s bio-availability to more therapeutic levels, and makes it the powerhouse it’s intended to be.
