November is National Pomegranate Month and there is so much more to this sweet and delicious fruit that meets the eye. So while you’re enjoying them while they’re in season over the autumn and winter we thought it would be fun to share some health facts about pomegranates, some are rather surprising.

1. Good for your heart health
Pomegranate juice is rich in polyphenols that are important anti-oxidants that can help reduce blood pressure.
2. Help to fight inflammation
Eating pomegranates has been shown to reduce the production of chemicals that are known to cause inflammation.

3. Full of important vitamins
Pomegranates are a nutritional powerhouse and contain lots of vitamins like Vitamins A and C. They are also a great source of Vitamin B5 too.
4. Pomegranates can improve your dental care
They have antiviral and antibacterial properties, which can help to reduce the effects of plaque, and protects against many diseases.

5. Can reduce arthritis
Arthritis is caused by inflammation around the joints, which can be painful and uncomfortable. Since they’re a source of antioxidants that have anti-inflammatory effects they could help alleviate some of the discomfort.
6. May help to prevent cancer
Pomegranates contain high levels of flavonoids, which are antioxidants that are known to be effective in fighting free radicals that can cause cancer.
