A note about "nourishment."

One of the primary foods in our lives is our relationship. When we are in love, life seems to be all sparkly, light and our energy is through the roof. Take the time this month to cherish your partner and make sure they know how special they are (without asking for something in return.) I can guarantee you will feel great.

Mini-Cupcakes with Naughty Frosting

Little cakes are so adorable, perky and fun. How much fun can you have with frosting on your tongue?? Made with a sweet potato and cream cheese base this frosting is not so naughty.

Strawberries Dipped in Dark Chocolate

Imagine bitter dark chocolate sweetness melting in your partner's mouth. Don't you want a taste?
Choose dark chocolate with over 70% cacao for the healthier option.

Juicy Popsicles

Ahem... I don't think I need to explain how you can use a Popsicle. I'm sure you've got a vivid imagination. Since these are homemade, no need to watch out for the sugar content.

I saw this movie once, where the guy ate sushi rolls off of his girlfriend. OMG so slow... so intense! Good thing is you can order and have it delivered last minute! Order fish sushi without mayonnaise or creamy sauces and it's an omega 3 fatty bonus!

Fruit doesn't have to be boring. Beautifully sliced and used to tease... a kiwi fruit takes on a new role. Also try grapes, banana chunks, or orange slices.

  • Keep everything bite-sized.
  • Don't use anything with chili (ouch!)
  • Make sure the foods you choose digest well.
    (You don't want to feel bloated, do you?)

The Sexy Snack Recipes

Mini-Cupcakes with Naughty Frosting

I recommend buying the tiny sized silicon cupcake forms in your local supermarket. It's an easy cleaning no greasing the pan option. This recipe comes from my favorite cookbook (at the moment) Feeding the Whole Family by Cynthia Lair.

Buttermilk Chocolate Cupcake Batter

Ingredients:

  • 2 ½ cups whole wheat flour
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375° Fahrenheit.
  2. Mix flour, cocoa, salt, baking powder and baking soda together in a bowl
  3. In a separate bowl, combine remaining ingredients and stir into flour mixture
  4. Pour batter into already greased cake pans or silicone cups
  5. Bake for 15 - 20 minutes

Yummy Yam Frosting

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup mashed baked sweet potatoes
  • ¼ cup softened cream cheese
  • 1 tablespoon melted unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon lemon or orange juice

Directions:

  1. Place everything together into a bowl
  2. Start to cream together
  3. With a hand mixer, purée into a smooth consistency

Strawberries Dipped in Dark Chocolate

You may find chocolate covered ones already made in your local chocolatier. To make them yourself...

Ingredients:

  • About 20 strawberries - washed and dried very well
  • 8 ounces of dark chocolate (70% cacao)

Directions:

  1. Line a baking sheet with wax paper
  2. Set up a small pot of simmering water on the stove
  3. Melt the chocolate in a bowl placed above the water
  4. Stir continuously until melted (about 3-5 minutes)
  5. Once melted, dip the strawberries one at a time in the chocolate and place onto the waxpaper
  6. Put the whole tray in the fridge and let set for about 15 minutes.

Juicy Popsicles

You can buy Popsicle holders in specialty kitchen shops or at Ikea or online at Amazon.co.uk. Here are two easy peasy recipes.

Creamy Orange Vanilla Pops

Ingredients:

  • 150 ml plain yogurt
  • 100 ml orange juice
  • 2 Tablespoons Juice Plus+ Complete Vanilla
  • 1 Tablespoon honey or other healthy sweetener (optional)

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients into a blender
  2. Pour into holders and freeze for minimum 4 hours.

Banana Raspberry Pops

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana
  • 1/3 cup raspberries
  • ½ cup water

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients into a blender
  2. Pour into holders and freeze for minimum 4 hours.
