Put a Spring in Your Step: Energizing Foods

Warmer weather and longer days are here, which means we are all looking for ways to put that extra spring in our step! With more hours of daylight, the possibilities of staying active are limitless; but, if your energy starts to dwindle, try these fruits and vegetables that are comprised of natural energizing properties to help give your body a natural kick.

Cherimoyas are sweet and creamy fruits filled with vitamin C, B-complex vitamins and fiber. These are so creamy that they are known as the “custard apple.” If you are looking for a new fruit to add to your daily fruit intake, try this cherimoya, matcha and strawberry icecream for a snack to cool down.

Mangoes are juicy and low-fat! Rich in vitamins A, C and E, mangoes are often considered the “king of the fruits.” Mangoes are also abundant in potassium, which helps control your heart rate and blood flow. Whether you add this delicious fruit to your smoothies or salsa, you’ll be filled with a surge of energy. This Quinoa and Mango Salad may be the perfect meal to help you leave lunch ready to take on the rest of the day.

Spinach is a versatile vegetable rich in iron, which helps fight fatigue by providing necessary oxygen to your body tissue. It’s also an excellent source of vitamins A, C and K, so adding a cup of spinach to your daily diet will perk you right up! Spinach Steak and Blueberry Salad is a hearty salad that would be great for lunch or dinner.

Did you know that coffee beans come from coffee cherries? A tried and true ingredient, coffee is a great natural source of energy. Rich in caffeine, coffee gives an immediate burst of energizing properties to your body’s tissues to jump start your nervous system. Try this Almond Coffee Green Smoothie to kick off your morning.

Last, but not least, we have colorful berries. They are the perfect topping for your morning oatmeal or ingredient for a mid-day smoothie. Did you know that strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries are a great source of energy? While there are various ways to incorporate berries in your diet, our favorite are these Triple Berry Pancakes.

All of these fruits and vegetables are great additions for your diet to invigorate you throughout the day. Add any of them to your meals to get that extra push to make it through the day.
