Achieving a healthy lifestyle is all about finding the right balance between eating healthier and staying active. To help you find that balance, the Juice Plus+ team has compiled a list of the top fitness trends and food tips you should try this year! Check out some of our favorite trends for 2016 below.

  • Meals in Bowls
Eating out of bowls is a health trend that has blown up in recent years. In 2015, it seemed everything from deconstructed sushi to smoothies was being served in bowls. This trend is more than just a visually appetizing way to arrange your food though—bowls are a great way to exercise portion control, helping you serve up the perfect amount of veggies, protein and grain in one place. A few of our favorite bowl recipes include this Bahn Mi-inspired bowl and this Easy Superfood Quinoa Bowl.

  • Group fitness classes
Group fitness classes are experiencing a boom in popularity and will continue to grow as new fitness trends sweep across the nation. Pilates, Zumba, Orange Theory, Barre classes and an abundance of spin classes have surged in popularity and are an excellent way to remain motivated in your workouts. A fitness trend that is sure to blow up in 2016 is team-based workouts. These workouts divide participants into teams and require individuals to work together to complete workouts, fostering a sense of camaraderie and team motivation.

  • High-Intensity Workouts
Challenging your strength and endurance in new ways is also on the rise in 2016. Obstacle courses and races that include jumping, lifting, and crawling challenges are an awesome way to get a full body workout in and avoid the monotony of using a machine at the gym. Another high-intensity workout includes Crossfit, which merges traits of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing, and more to provide a high-energy, competitive workout. Not only will these workouts challenge your strength and stamina, but they are easy to customize based on your needs and fitness goals, making them excellent for individuals of all fitness backgrounds.

  • Wearable Technology
Wearables have made fitness tracking a breeze and as such, are a trend that will continue to grow in 2016. You can keep track of how many calories you are burning, steps you are taking, how soundly you are sleeping, and more. Many wearables also pair with your smartphone, and allow you to see how you’re measuring up against your fitness goals and even your friends throughout the day.

  • Yoga
While Yoga may not be a “new” trend it remains in our top five trends to try because of the enormous health benefits it can provide—both physically and mentally. There are many different forms of yoga you can try, from Hatha to Bikram (also known as Hot Yoga) to the newest practice--Aerial yoga. In all forms of yoga, the stretches and poses help elongate the muscles while the breathing and relaxation methods to help you center your focus and energy, making it an excellent source of activity and relaxation.
