Nutrition for Skin Health: Glow like the Celebrities on the Red Carpet

It’s awards season! This Sunday celebrities will walk the red carpet at the most widely anticipated and followed entertainment awards show of all time. One of the greatest allures of the red carpet, is watching the latest and greatest in celebrity fashion and celebrity health, and it’s hard not to notice celebrities skin health in particular. Some celebrities positively glow under the bright lights!

Healthy skin is a sign of a healthy person. It is the body’s first line of defense against the outside world, but it is also affected from the inside. Skin health begins with overall health, which can be achieved through a healthy diet and exercise. We see that more and more actors and actresses are eating a diet of whole food nutrition to maintain their figures and skin health. Healthy skin is a necessity in the highly competitive film industry, but is also a priority for many.

Tips to Maintain Your Skin Health

Want to improve your skin to shine like the celebrities during awards season? Here are three tips to help improve skin health.

  • Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Fruit and vegetables provide the skin with antioxidants, such as beta-carotene, and vitamins C, A, and E. These vitamins affect skin health by repairing the damage caused by unstable molecules known as free radicals, which harm skin cells and cause signs of aging.
  • Add foods that are high in Omega-3 fatty acids to your diet. Omega-3 fatty acids help the skin by boosting the strength of the outermost layer, which is the body’s first line of defense against external pollutants and toxins. Foods that are rich in these acids include salmon, walnuts, and flax seeds.
  • Stay hydrated. Dry skin advances the aging process substantially and is a clearly visible sign of poor skin health. It is generally agreed that 4 to 8 cups of liquid, preferably water, should be consumed every day to prevent dry skin.
